Whiteside Prevention Initiative is an integral partner in the Learning
Together Family Literacy Program, an intensive, daily site-based family
literacy program serving parents in need of Adult Basic Education and their
young children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Each daily class includes parent
education, parent/child literacy interaction, parent/child activities, early
childhood education and adult education. Learning Together Class is for
parents who want to get a GED and their young children ages 6 weeks to 5
years. Parents work on GED preparation, children ages 6 weeks - 3 are in Play
and Learn Class and children 3-5 are in Head Start Class. Special Parent Child
Story Times will be on Fridays.

Eligibility
- Parent and child must participate together.
- Parent must qualify for Adult Basic Education.
- Child must be between the ages of six weeks and three years.
- Family must reside in Whiteside County.
- Family must attend regularly.
