What is Parent Based Instruction for Kindergarten Parents?
PBI is a unique parent education and awareness program designed to teach parents how to help their children do better in school while promoting positive relationships between the parent, teacher and the school. This is a program that will provide a mechanism for the schoolteacher to form desirable relationships consistent with school system goals while allowing parents to become involved in the development and learning process of their children. The school that makes a conscious effort in promoting, developing, and nurturing good, positive relationships between students, teachers, and parents has taken a giant step in making schooling a successful experience for all students. What Does the Program Offer Kindergarten Parents?
Approximately nine times during the school year parents will meet with their children's teacher for about an hour and a half. During these meetings the teacher will:
- assist parents in developing activities that will help their children grow in the areas of: reading; math; and motor and social skills.
- address parents' questions and concerns regarding their children and the school environment.
- inform parents about school rules and procedures, supportive programs, and other community services that are available to them.
- provide parents with an open forum for discussion.
How Will the Program Benefit Me?
All parents, no matter what their background, want the best for their children. The PBI program can help parents become well informed and comfortable in and around the school setting. The teacher will form positive and desirable relationships with all parents while winning their cooperation and support. What better way is there to help your children do their best in school than to encourage and nurture parent involvement in the educational process. It's a win-win program. What Does the Teacher Activity Manual Offer?
The activity manual includes:
