Education Outreach is a dropout retrieval program designed to aid young adults between the ages of 17 - 21 obtain their GED and gain work-readiness skills.  The program is funded through a grant from the Northwest Illinois Workforce Investment Board.

Participating youth are expected to attend GED classes offered by Even Start or Sauk Valley Community College weekly as well as attend ongoing sessions with a job coach focusing on employment skills.

To qualify, youth must be Whiteside County residents between the ages of 17 - 21, eligible to take the GED tests and meet low-income guidelines

Services

  • Assistance with transportation and childcare
  • Payment of GED testing fees
  • Financial stipends for individual test and GED completion
  • One-on-one tutoring
  • Interviewing and employment skill training
  • Resume development and career exploration
  • Job search assistance
