S.T.E.M. Instruction with Legos
This workshop uses the Simple Machines, ELAB, and Robotics Lego sets that are available through the Whiteside ROE to provide you with lesson plans, handouts, and equipment in handy individual sets to do just that! Students in cooperative learning groups build models and use them to make predictions, collect data, graph and analyze the data, infer, compare, manipulate, and devise solutions as they work through the lessons. You can teach Simple Machines – inclined planes, levers, gears, and pulleys; Renewable Energy – solar, wind and hydro power; and/or Robotics - building a tilt-a-whirl, tour bus and bumper car to learn about touch and light sensors and generate programs to control their movement with computer software. Kids love it and so will you! Classroom Lego kits are available for check-out from Whiteside ROE after completion of class.
